Travel experience – South Korea
Trade fair in South Korea
In October this year, the JayKay Team got to visit South Korea in the context of the International Smart E-Mobility Expo in Yeonggwang. South Korea is an amazing country with hospitable people and an extraordinary food culture.
Regarding our e-trucks and the upcoming trade fair, we focussed on discovering the electromobility market of South Korea. Compared to other Asian countries, South Korea is very tech-savvy and was among the first to join in the electromobility trend. The exhibitors presented the new generation of e-mobility solutions ranging from electric city scooters and new e-bike technologies to high-performance drones. The perfect environment to introduce our e-trucks to the Asian market.
The journey from Munich via Rome to Seoul with our electric longboards went without troubles. In compliance with the international regulations for lithium cells (< 100 Wh), we were allowed to carry the boards as cabin baggage.
After arriving in Seoul, we took the express train to head south to Gwangju. This city with 1.5 million inhabitants was situated an one hour’s drive away from the trade fair location and was therefore our base for the upcoming six days. Apart from the trade fair we also wanted to explore the modern and spacious infrastructure of the country. In the cities there are numerous footpaths and bicycle lanes next to the main roads which invite for a cruise. But also in rural areas, for example at the coast, there is always a possibility to cruise around on the longboard.
The development and the use of e-mobility in South Korea is experiencing an enormous boost, especially in urban areas like Seoul or Gwangju. Wether it is the last mile from the metro station to the office or a trip with friends to the city center – the shift to electromobility has already started here in South Korea.
Looking back, the journey was a valuable enrichment regarding the further development of our company. We are looking forward to visit South Korea again, maybe already in 2019.
